Searching the Wallace Court Docket
Every Wallace search runs through the parish system. For a documented statewide index of civil, family, probate, land, and marriage records, use eClerks LA. For parish civil or criminal inquiry, try the Clerk-linked Civil & Criminal Inquiry. You can also use the Clerk Connect account flow when available. The 40th JDC schedule can clarify what a setting category means. It is not a full name-searchable docket, though. If online access falls short, the parish Clerk offers an in-person, phone, and written-request fallback for the court docket.
- Keep the case or citation number, caption or party name, date, and court named on the paperwork.
- Search eClerks LA by last name or entity name, adding the first name, match mode, and date range as needed.
- Check the Parish column for St. John the Baptist Parish before treating a result as the correct Wallace-related matter.
- Use the Clerk Connect account path or call the Clerk for parish civil or criminal inquiry, image access, and record detail.
- Compare the current case record with the court schedule and contact the Clerk or division if a date or location is uncertain.
The eClerks LA statewide portal explains its index role across participating parish services.
Wallace Court Docket Name and Date Methods
Name and date options matter in a Wallace docket search. The eClerks guide offers three name-match choices: Begins With, Exact Match, and Contains. Date presets span one month, one year, 10 years, and 30 years. You can also set start and end date fields yourself. Work from the details printed on your notice. Do not assume an exact spelling or a single filing year. Results come back with Date, Document Set, Type, Number, Party1, Party2, Doc Type, Description, and Parish fields.
| Search control | Wallace docket use |
|---|---|
| Last Name or Entity Name | Primary field for the named party or entity. |
| First Name | Optional field that can narrow a result. |
| Match mode | Choose Begins With, Exact Match, or Contains based on the information available. |
| Date range | Use a preset or entered dates to focus the statewide result list. |
| Parish | Select the result that identifies St. John the Baptist Parish. |
Wallace Municipal Court Basics
No separately identified Wallace municipal court exists, and there is no Wallace municipal docket portal. Wallace is a Census Designated Place, not an incorporated municipality with its own city court. That makes the Wallace court question a parish question. Use the St. John Parish Clerk and the 40th JDC route. Then confirm the court printed on any traffic citation or summons rather than assuming a Wallace court channel.
This roll-up answers a common routing puzzle. The community named in an address is not always the court name. The court record stays with the office the case or citation identifies.
Do not turn a Wallace search into a hunt for a city office that does not exist. Let the Wallace paper trail point you to the St. John court path. When a citation or notice names a court, that named court controls. When the paperwork identifies a parish case, the record route runs through the Clerk. It also runs through the 40th JDC. That distinction keeps you from chasing a false Wallace municipal-court result.
Wallace Court Docket Context in the 2020 Census
Wallace counted 755 residents in the 2020 Census. It was the smallest of the five official parish-profile CDPs. Small size explains its place in the parish, but it does not create a city court or a separate docket. The local answer stays the same either way. Look to the Clerk and 40th JDC for state court records. For any different traffic path, look to the issuing court named on a citation.
Court Dates and Settings in Wallace
A Wallace address does not mean a Wallace hearing room. The main courthouse sits in Edgard at 2393 Highway 18. The 40th JDC schedule lays out the framework. It covers traffic and misdemeanor hearings, civil motions and pretrials, felony motions and pretrials, jury weeks, family, juvenile, and arraignment categories. For the particular date, time, and division, check the case notice and case record. If a date was reset, get Clerk confirmation. Do the same if the venue seems unclear, and do it before you go.
| Case or citation number | Connects the notice to the parish court file. |
|---|---|
| Caption or party | Helps confirm the correct result where a name is common. |
| Setting date and time | Use the current notice or case entry for the individual matter. |
| Division | Division A, B, or C when identified in the parish record. |
| Setting type | The 40th JDC schedule explains categories such as traffic, motion, pretrial, jury week, or arraignment. |
Wallace Edgard Court Location Check
All jury and bench trials are held in Edgard, according to the 40th JDC. Its current venue information also reports that no court is being held at the former LaPlace Arcuri Center. That closure is because of Hurricane Ida destruction. Keep the Clerk's open service channel separate from the actual courtroom location. A community address does not decide where a hearing takes place. Before appearing, rely on the notice, the case entry, and Clerk confirmation.
Venue check: The former LaPlace court location is marked closed by the 40th JDC. Confirm the current courtroom and setting through the case notice, the Clerk, or the assigned division before travel.
Traffic Tickets in Wallace
For a Wallace traffic ticket, read the citation for the issuing court. Use the Sheriff's Tickets, Bonds & Fines path for payment information. The Sheriff ticket line is 985-359-8712. The Clerk and 40th JDC still keep the court docket, along with the disposition, minute, judgment, and certified court record. The citation tells you whether the matter is payable. It also says whether a court appearance is required.
The official Sheriff traffic page adds a 5% fee for online card payments. In-office payments take a money order only. Its published local fine table is headed Effective August 1, 2014. Confirm the current amount and deadline with the citation or official staff before you pay.
Wallace Sheriff Ticket Payment Path
The Sheriff links an online ticket payment service from its traffic page. That is the verified web channel. The official instructions accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover online. The added 5% fee still applies. Mail payment takes a postal money order or a certified bank check. Make it payable to St. John Parish Sheriff's Office. The dated local table marks loud music, DWI, ROMV, hit and run, and wildlife or fisheries matters as MUST APPEAR IN COURT. When a ticket instruction differs from a general table entry, the ticket instruction controls.
Where Wallace Cases Go
Wallace has no municipal court of its own. Its cases start at the parish level. Civil, criminal, family, juvenile, probate, and traffic matters in St. John the Baptist Parish land with the St. John Parish Clerk and the 40th JDC. That applies when the paperwork names that court. A ticket issued somewhere else must be chased back to the court printed on the citation. Appeals move up one level. A case appealed from the 40th JDC goes to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. Anything federal belongs to an entirely separate court system.
Docket flow: Wallace case or citation › issuing court or St. John Parish Clerk › 40th Judicial District Court › Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal for an appeal where applicable.

Wallace Clerk Connect Account Route
The Clerk's website connects users to Clerk Connect. Its Civil & Criminal Inquiry handles parish-level searching. Signing in comes first. The St. John query view sits behind authentication. Clerk Connect itself lists civil suits, criminal cases, land records, search, retrieval, and printing among its services. It notes that some of those depend on the particular office. An index entry with no image is not proof of sealing or of a missing document. Ask the Clerk instead. The Edgard phone line is 985-497-3331. Once the Clerk confirms the procedure, a mail request can go to P.O. Box 280, Edgard, LA 70049.
The Clerk Connect login lays out the account path before any parish inquiry begins.
Wallace Court Record Access Rules
Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure article 251 generally lets people examine, copy, photograph, and take memoranda of records while the Clerk's office is open. Legal exceptions and local procedures still apply. The Clerk serves as the legal custodian of parish court records. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and protected-identifier material can stay restricted. A blank search result or missing image deserves a call to the Clerk. It is not evidence that a Wallace proceeding never existed.
A request works best when it names the case. Add the party or caption, the year, and the exact document wanted. Say whether the need is inspection, a plain copy, a certified copy, or a transcript. The Clerk can tell a docket book entry from a minute entry, a judgment, or another filed record. Hold onto the case number and any notice. An online result may lack the detail in the Clerk's court file. A restricted result calls for the lawful Clerk route rather than a different portal.
For a court date, pair the current notice with the case entry itself. A payment confirmation is not a disposition. An image is not a certified copy. The Clerk settles which record form is correct. The same office states the current copy procedure.
Louisiana access rules: Code of Civil Procedure article 251 provides for Clerk custody, inspection, copying, and certification subject to exceptions. R.S. 44:31 recognizes adult inspection and copying rights unless an exclusion applies. R.S. 44:32 addresses reasonable access and copy procedures.
Wallace Court Docket and Federal Case Boundaries
A federal case tied to a Wallace person, address, or business is not a 40th JDC state case. Federal civil and criminal matters for this area run through the Eastern District of Louisiana on PACER and CM/ECF, while parish cases stick with the St. John Clerk and the 40th JDC channels already described. Remote federal access requires PACER registration. The service appears here only to mark the boundary between systems, not as a tool for searching a Wallace or St. John state court docket. The two routes answer to different custodians, so keep each Wallace case number with the paperwork that names its court.
The official PACER home page lays out account access and what federal case information is available.

PACER is a federal service only. A no-result there says nothing about a Wallace state-court docket question.
The PACER Case Locator explanation describes its nationwide federal index by party, court, case number, filed date, and closed date.

Those locator results point to federal court records. They never retrieve a parish record held by the St. John Clerk.
The Eastern District case-information page identifies the federal CM/ECF route for the district covering St. John the Baptist Parish.

Go federal only when the paperwork names a federal case. Everything else comes back to the parish path through the 40th JDC.
