Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. That provider processes the input and returns any result. This reference does not keep a separate log of those terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to this resource may be retained to respond. It is kept within the operator’s organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive ordinary technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure general use, such as pages visited and navigation patterns. Analytics services may aggregate that information. Browser settings can block cookies, although some functions may then respond differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating and improving page performance
- Passing a query to the provider selected for that tool
- Understanding aggregate use of the reference pages
- Diagnosing technical problems
- Serving advertising that may be relevant
No Court-Record Data on File
This resource does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case files. It gives general routing information for St. John the Baptist Parish records held by the Clerk of Court, Fortieth Judicial District Court, and official inquiry systems. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern information entered there, including retention and sharing choices. Review the applicable policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
The reference links to clerk pages, 40th JDC information, statewide inquiry systems, legal-help resources, and outside tools. Leaving this site places a visitor under the other service’s privacy policy. Read it before providing personal details.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be processed by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so a breach can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This reference is directed to adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. Contact the operator if a minor’s data may have been provided so it can be addressed.
Your Data Rights
Louisiana law, including the Louisiana Public Records Law, La. R.S. 44:1 et seq., governs official-record access rather than creating a private-site right to an underlying court file. For court records, La. C.C.P. art. 251 separately identifies the Clerk as custodian and provides for public examination and copying subject to legal exceptions. Depending on applicable law, visitors may seek:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
