Why We Built This Site
Louisiana public access rules allow inspection of many court records, yet the path depends on the item. Felicia C. Feist, Clerk of Court, is the legal custodian for 40th JDC files. The court establishes divisions and settings, while eClerks LA and Clerk Connect can provide separate index or inquiry routes. A docket is not always the filed document, and a screen result is not a certified copy. The purpose here is to make those local distinctions plain before a reader contacts the correct custodian.
What You Will Find Here
- Docket guides: how criminal dockets and civil dockets are read in St. John the Baptist Parish
- Settings: ways to use court dates with a division and case number
- Case inquiries: how case lookup works by name or known number
- Original records: how court record searches lead to the Clerkâs copy and certification channels
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. It has no connection to a Louisiana court, the St. John Clerk, or a state agency. Its limits are important:
- We cannot pull an official docket sheet or case file for anyone
- We cannot change, reschedule, or reset a court date or hearing setting
- We cannot remove, seal, or amend a case on any docket
- We cannot issue certified copies of any docket, order, or court document
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot promise that a phone number, fee, or setting remains current at a particular moment
Only the Clerk of Court or the court that maintains a matter can issue its official or certified copy. A reader must obtain that document from the responsible office.
Search Partners
Some pages contain a search box supplied by an outside provider. That provider operates its own service and decides its own charges. A paid signup may produce a referral fee for this private resource. Those providers control their results, pricing, and data practices, not the St. John Clerk or 40th JDC.
